Surrounded by the rugged massif of the Bergkastel peak and the Plamorter peak, the green slopes of the Piengkopf tower aloft. The many alpine pastures and mountain meadows of the Piengtal valley are carefully farmed with intensive and nature-oriented manual labour by the farmers of Nauders. Our hiking guide will tell us all about the living environment of the local butterfly species located there and the painstaking work of the farmers. The rustic Piengalm is an important part of this alpine farming and makes a significant contribution to the maintenance of the diverse world of animals and plants. Passing numerous cairns, we reach the summit cross of the Piengkopf and are treated to a magnificent view of the surrounding mountain world and the Goldseen glistening in the sun.
