Lived tradition
To give special expression to the bond with the homeland, mountain fires are lit every year on the Sunday after Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart Sunday.
The lighting of mountain fires goes back to a medieval custom. In mid-June, the sun reaches its highest point at the summer solstice and therefore has a special power. Fire is regarded as a symbol of the sun. It stands for healing, fertility and blessings for people, animals and nature.
In the evening, the Nauders music band plays its annual Sacred Heart concert in the pavilion and looks forward to a large audience!
