On one of the most beautiful hikes in this area, we set out on a special path over countless huge stones - the large Blockkar glacier towards Mataunkopf. After ascending with the cable car, we walk between alpine rose bushes and over grassy patches to the "big stone". From there, a final ascent leads to the last hill before the Gold Lakes. The natural drinking water reservoir of Nauders - the Gold Lakes, which are embedded here in a mountain basin with little vegetation and scree, impress with their crystal-clear water in which the mighty surrounding rock colossi Berkastelspitze, Plamorterspitze, Ganderbildspitze and Mataunkopf are reflected. After a short walk and a break, continue to the Mataunkopf and take the same path back to the top station of the Bergkastel cable car. The impressive mountain panorama from the summit of the Mataunkopf also rewards us with a special kind of summit experience.
