TYROL ALPINE IBEX CENTRE “AM SCHROFEN”

The Tyrolean Ibex Center in St. Leonhard tells the story of the ibex in the Pitztal, 65 years after its reintroduction. An interactive exhibition allows visitors to learn more about the largest ibex colony in the Eastern Alps.
Tales about the Alpine ibex in the Alpine region are closely connected with the parish of St. Leonhard. Today, 65 years after the successful re-introduction of the Alpine ibex to Pitztal valley, the visitor centre “Am Schrofen” is devoted to telling this fascinating story. The accessible centre impresses with its exceptional architecture and includes an interactive exhibition on two levels, a café-restaurant with a visitor terrace as well as an info area and shop. You can observe marmots and Alpine ibexes on eye level in a walk-in game enclosure (the feeding station is accessible for wheelchair users). The marmots are in hibernation.

Important: Please note that dogs must be kept on their lead in the entire area. Dogs are NOT allowed inside the Alpine ibex enclosure.
